Background
In April 2022, I joined Cybergirls, an intensive 7-month training program. It was an exciting opportunity that allowed me to enhance my cybersecurity skills and knowledge. The program was entirely virtual, enabling participants from various African countries to connect and learn together. However, amidst the virtual setup, we had a memorable physical meeting at the Nairobi Linux party. It was a fantastic experience where I had the chance to meet my fellow participants, known as my cyber sisters, and engage in various activities. One highlight of the event was the exhilarating Capture the Flag (CTF) competition. I put my skills to the test and emerged among the top performers, which filled me with a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, I had the privilege of meeting Confidence Staveley, the founder of cybersafe foundation and a renowned figure in the cybersecurity field. Overall, my time with Cybergirls was immensely rewarding, providing me with valuable experiences and connections in the cyber world.
